Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign Provides An Easy Way for Consumers to Help Kids Struggling with Hunger in the U.S.
More than one in five children and more than one in three Latino children in this country may not know where their next meal is coming from. Children who experience even intermittent struggles with hunger may suffer serious, long-term consequences to their health, well-being and educational achievement. ConAgra Foods is building a community of people to make a difference, from top musical artists, to parents, kids, employees and more to help donate up to 3 million meals. For each 8-digit code found on specially marked ConAgra Foods products and entered at www.ChildHungerEndsHere.com or Facebook.com/ChildHungerEndsHere, ConAgra Foods will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America. This effort complements the ConAgra Foods Foundation's $10 million, five-year commitment to Feeding America, the leader in the fight against hunger nationwide.
The 2013 Child Hunger Ends Here campaign will be supported by Carly Rae Jepsen , Tori Kelly , Amber Riley and Cody Simpson , who will lend their voices to spread awareness for child hunger while asking consumers to take action by entering a code found on participating ConAgra Foods products. The campaign will be supported with an original song, online concerts and retail promotions alongside a social media campaign involving top online influencers. This is the first time a major food company has partnered with a management company in this capacity, channeling the influence and talent of artists in order to impact real change.

Contributions to support the Louisiana Food Bank Association and Food Banks Statewide
Baton Rouge, LA, February 4, 2013 – Louisianans can help fight hunger when filing their 2012 state income tax returns by including a contribution to the Louisiana Food Bank Association (LFBA) on line 41 on the state income tax form. Contributions to the LFBA will support the efforts of Louisiana’s five food banks to provide emergency food assistance for nearly 610,000 people statewide, including 245,000 children, who struggle with hunger.
LFBA’s five regional food banks include: Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Food Bank of Central Louisiana, Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana, Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana. In 2012, Louisiana’s food banks distributed over 50 million pounds of food, the equivalent of approximately 40 million meals, through more than 400 member agencies including churches, food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters and other local nonprofits.
“The face of hunger is predominantly elderly and children. 70% of the members of families that rely on food banks have either elderly or children in their households. Fifty percent are either on social security or disabled” said Cindy Greenstein, Executive Director of the Louisiana Food Bank Association. “Even with decreasing unemployment, new jobs being created are less likely to pay a living wage and the demand on food banks remain high. The many challenges the state has faced has caused greater competition for the private and public food and fund resources that food banks depend on” added Greenstein.
Support from this effort will allow Louisiana’s food banks to maximize each dollar donated to feed Louisiana’s hungry through relationships with Feeding America, the food industry, and other community partners.

Hunger in America
In many ways, America is the land of plenty. But for 1 in 6 Americans, hunger is a reality. Many people believe that the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country, or certain neighborhoods, but the reality is much different.
Right now, 17 million families in America are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working families who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. To learn more, take a look below at the staggering facts from Feeding America®.
Hunger Facts:
- 1 in 6 Americans struggles with hunger—even in our own communities.
- 17 million families in America face hunger.
- Hunger is a reality for nearly 49 million people in America.
- Feeding America is providing food to 37 million Americans each year—an increase of 46 percent over 2006.
